Ice Damming

Ice Dams are caused by the snow or ice melting on the roof surface, pooling, and being trapped on the shingles by a lower, frozen dam.  The actual cause is inadequate insulation distribution. The problem is usually discovered by stepping on wet carpet due to moisture in the wall cavity, or the ceiling dripping. Unfortunately the damage is done. We will come out, note the location of the dam, open the sheet rock if necessary, and schedule repairs. This is also your notice that the attic insulation and ventilation needs investigating.
